Win7 Tip: Pinning Any Folder to the Windows 7 Taskbar for Quick Access

Published 02 June 10 12:42 PM | rodtrent

Windows 7 makes it easy to "pin" folders to the taskbar for quick access - as long as the folder is in the "Frequent" or recently accessed list.  But, what if a folder you want is not available in the "Frequent" list, i.e., when you create a new folder you know you'll be accesssing frequently for a while - or forever?

Here's what to do...

1. Open up a new Windows Explorer window, to the folder you want to "pin" to the taskbar.

2. Left-click and drag the folder...

....to the taskbar.  (a little message "Pin to Windows Explorer" will display).

3. Now, the new folder is pinned to the Windows Explorer component on the Windows 7 taskbar.

To access it from here on out, just right-click on the Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar and the menu above will display, allowing you to jump straight to your saved folder.
