Our winner is Jed Utsinger!
A little about Jed: Jed is the SMS/Windows Administrator for Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. He’ll be focusing on Application Virtualization and using MDT with ConfigMgr this year. This will be his second trip to MMS. In his spare time, he's a volunteer with Cub Scouts and also volunteers with Lifeline of Ohio, an organization that promotes organ donation. He began working with them after donating a kidney to his wife in 2006.
He got up every 60 minutes the last night of the contest to enter.
Congratulations Jed, a very worthy effort on your part!

This announcement is a bit late this year because I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to come to MMS. I got the clearance to go last week, so I’ll see you in Vegas!

Today we issued our Advanced Notification Service (ANS) to advise customers that we will be releasing security update MS10-018 tomorrow, March 30, 2010, at approximately10:00 a.m. PDT (UTC-8). MS10-018 resolves Security Advisory 981374, addressing a publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7. Internet Explorer 8 is unaffected by the vulnerability addressed in the advisory and we continue to encourage all customers to upgrade to this version to benefit from the improved security protection it offers.

Over the weekend, our CTO, Ron Crumbaker spent a lot of his personal time to upgrade the myITforum.com server. Thanks, Ron! If you get a chance, drop him a note to thank him.
Due to the enormous new traffic in the last few months (read: you killed our server!) the upgrade was essential. Thanks to everyone for bearing with us during the site slow-downs in the last couple months.
What you’ll notice already is a huge, welcomed improvement in speed. We actually felt like *another site* while waiting for our new hardware/software and I’m sure you noticed the pain, too. So, jump out and kick the tires and let us know what you think.
Now that the server upgrade is complete, watch for a huge number of new things to just “pop up” on the site. Of course, we’ll mention them here, but it might be fun to capture them as they happen.
Hint…have you seen the forums, yet?
Anyway – bear with us. The performance issues have been resolved, but there are some serious additions and upgrades that are on their way which will make MMS 2010 a lot more fun for all of you.

Just an FYI: The myITforum web site will be offline from later tonight until Sunday for the big server upgrade…
This means all site technologies will be offline, i.e., web, lists, etc.

Secure Vantage Technologies is so thrilled to announce the winner of our MMS Conference Badge Giveaway Contest that began earlier this month. After dozens of entries, we've randomly selected our winner:
Bob Sergent, Senior Systems Engineer for OfficeMax in Naperville, IL.
Congratulations Bob on a huge win! We're all very happy for you and can't wait to meet you in Las Vegas next month.
For those that are interested to know how we selected the winner, it was by using a true random number generator from random.org. We entered the total number of responses we had received and used the random number generated to match the number based on the order that the entries were received. Bob, was the lucky forth entry matching the number "4" returned by the random number generator.
For all the dozens of other entries received, we're sorry you didn't win this year but hope that you can still make it out to MMS. It is an amazing experience and an event that Secure Vantage is proud to be a Gold Sponsor.
Thank you,
Duncan McAlynn
Director of Partner Alliances

Just a reminder that the early bird rate ends tomorrow (3/24) if you haven't registered. After that point, it could be very hard, if not impossible to get a room at the Venetian (there's another conference going on the same week).
