Firefox 3.0 more secure?

I use the Send Link option in IE a lot to send links to important content.

When I do this in IE, I’m confronted with the following message from Outlook.

It tells me that something from the web is trying to access my computer.  Great warning just so I’m safe.

However, Firefox bypasses this error message somehow.  So, what happens when a script on a web page tries to do the same function?  Will Firefox catch this as a potential security issue, or will I be an unwitting victim of a harmful web page?
