How many sites are just carrion for marketing vultures?

I was over at the Intel "communities" site today looking for some information on VPro.

Someone asked a simple question about VPro, and then they were inundated with responses from vendors about how their management product was the best.  Those vendors included Altiris, LANDesk, and Microsoft.  I don't believe the question was ever really answered in the thread.

What a sad state.  We try really hard here at myITforum.com to highlight *your* answers - because we believe you all are a bit smarter than the marketing folks.

Hi Rod..

Can you please point out the specific question about what is vPro with the marketing response?  We strive hard on the expert center to not be a marketing site & most folks on the site are engineers, architects & integrators of the technology.  Please reference the specific post so I can address.

Thank You

Josh H

Hi Rod,

I went back to the post your referring to and I think there are a couple of elements that are important to know.

* We launched this community august 27th, this post was from august 29th.  It was one of the first posts from an external community member asking who is taking full advantage of the vPro features.

* When we set out to start this community the focus was on bringing the End Users (IT enthusiasts), ISV's, OEM's, ITO's, SI's, & Intel (Intel IT, architects, engineers) together for a dialogue.  The fact that Brett, Joel & Dave all responded to this post is a great thing for bringing together the eco-system to participate in a dialogue with end users & inform.

* As we look back into 2007 the overall awareness/knowledge of all the vPro capabilities was not as broad as it is today, therefore having a # of End users going to the site & responding was not as possible as it is today.

* I also think if you continue to look at the posts in the discussion threads you will see great questions & specific answers to questions posted, where we highlight when somebody has a fix for the rest of the community members.

Sad State?  I don’t believe so..   We’re bringing together the eco-system to answer questions for all community members & growing as a collective body of IT Pro’s that enjoy our work.

I hope to see you out on the vPro Expert Center again & looking forward to your community members questions on vPro..

Cheers.

I also should have added I know your community is a big Microsoft community therefore this new sub zone we just started was in response to all the feedback I heard at MMS.  communities.intel.com/.../microsoft-vpro   The focus of this area is all about SMS & SCCM inntegration with vPro.  I think it will serve as a great resource for your community.
