Posted to an email list today, Mark Maiffret, is moving on…
It was obviously a hard decision to leave but eEye is really all I have done since I was 17 and eventually you wake up one morning wondering what else is out there and don't want to miss out potentially before getting any older. I love starting companies (even though I have only done one :-)) and wanted to make sure I can do it a few more times before I decide to "settle down."
I am working on a mobile phone software company which I think will be very relevant to the folks on NTSYSADMIN and I am very excited to tell everyone about it around the end of Q1 08 or so.
And I am definitely not leaving security or anything like that... In fact I will probably be doing more security than before, at least from a hands on perspective. I am launching a new security consulting company soon and will be providing the following services:
Application Security: Design review, black box testing, reverse engineering, custom protocol fuzzing. More importantly, vulnerability prevention, attack surface mitigation, secure by design. This includes both server, desktop, and web application assessments.
Network Security: Penetration testing (Internal/External), architecture assessments, policies and procedures for incident response and preventative security processes.
Incident Response: General forensics, root cause discovery, preventative changes.
Technology(CTO-HiredGun): Product design/architecture, positioning/marketing, competitive intelligence.
I have made a lot of great friends over the years on NTSYSADMIN and would love to keep in touch. For those I have not already contacted directly you can reach me at (marc@marcmaiffret.com and www.marcmaiffret.com).
