I've always wondered why I'm not using IE 7 64-bit

My Windows Vista 64–bit notebook has both IE 7 32–bit and 64–bit.  I’ve run the 64–bit version a couple times just to see if there were any differences in this version.  I didn’t find any differences, so I went back to the 32–bit version (which runs fine on my 64–bit computer).  But, its still been haunting me…”what are the actual differences between the two versions?…and, am I missing out on something by not using the 64–bit version?”

Apparently, I’m not missing out on anything.  I’ve found two references that really only indicate that I’d be missing more if I used the 64–bit version.

First off, applications will launch the 32–bit version anyway.  Then, 32-bit toolbar add-ins do not work in the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. These add-ins include things like the MSN toolbar, the AOL toolbar, the eBay toolbar, and the Google toolbar.  By design, the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer cannot host 32-bit ActiveX controls. Additionally, the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer cannot host 64-bit ActiveX controls.  And, the last issue I found is that there is no 64-bit version of Flash Player.  So, if you need to view a website that uses Flash, then you'll need to use the 32-bit version IE.

So, I guess that 64–bit IE icon will continue to gather dust.
