BIOS Flashed - Wifi back on

Published 12 May 07 09:10 AM | rodtrent

Thanks to Alexander Larkin for suggesting I update my laptop BIOS.  I had thought about doing that, but BIOS updates always scare me for some reason, so I only use them as a last resort.  In reality it had come down to a last resort scenario.

During the BIOS update the Wireless card powered back on.  After shutting down and rebooting, the Wireless card came back up as it should.  Could this be the ultimate fix?  Only time will tell, but I’m glad it’s working right now.  I checked for a fix list on the BIOS page, but there wasn’t one.

I also notice that the laptop is running generally faster in all areas.  Nothing bad to report so far, but, of course, I’ll keep you updated.  For now, I’ve wrapped my network cable back up and put it away — but not too far away.  It’s close enough so that I can grab it quickly if the Wireless card decides to jump the shark again.

I also have an HP and similarly lost my internal wifi card last Wednesday.  I already had the latest BIOS, but reflashed anyway.  No luck.  Looks like a hardware problem here.

I am starting to have the same problem except that it is router and cable modem based. Cable modem DHCP refuses to update router ip config thus I have to reboot everything. Getting tired of this.
