Symantec Corp.

The world's largest maker of anti-virus software, which this year bought Lindon-based Altiris, said fourth-quarter profit fell 49 percent, a smaller drop than analysts had estimated, as it sold more security software to large customers.

Net income fell to $60.9 million, or 7 cents a share, from $118.8 million, or 11 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales rose 9.6 percent, to $1.36 billion.
