On the issue I posted about here and here…from Chris:
Here's the problem, Sparky...
Those emails are generated from the feeds from the blogs that aren't being updated with new content... I haven't yet found the people to continue them, so when a part of that feed updates, the email gets sent to the subscribers.
It's not spam, technically - it's just that we've lost certain people who were keeping those channels up to date.
Hmmm…so, technically — I’m not receiving Spam — it just looks like Spam.
Me: I don’t like Spam!
Chris: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Me: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Chris: Eewwww!
This may be a unique way that Spammers can take advantage of dead blog links. A dead blog turned into a Spam bot.

Microsoft’s Surface computing looks and sounds cool — no question. But, can you imagine how many germs and viruses this thing will spread? This thing could start a whole new category of illness if we’re not careful. The “Surface Flu” would be fitting.
Some enterprising individual should start manufacturing “Surface Computing Gloves” or “Anti-bacterial Surface Wipes” or “Computing Condoms” and release them with the public release of the Surface tabletop.
I’m pretty sure that a bottle of anti-bacterial wash will be a requirement to use these things. Future versions should sport a built-in soap dispenser.
Hmmm…

myITforum.com has an Amazon.com component on the site that builds a book offering based on the content of the page. Nelson Sierra sent me this funny photo of the item that Amazon.com found for BDD (Business Desktop Deployment). BDD *also* stands for Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

I mentioned the other day about Lockergnome using their newsletter system to send nothing but spam for the Mobile Lifestyle newsletter. Well, today, I received the exact same thing to the RSS & Atom Tips newsletter. I hope they fix this soon, or old lockergnome will find a lot of inboxes no longer receive any of the newsletters after being reported as spam.
Here’s the full content of today’s newsletter…

If you have some “me” time this weekend, you might think of trying out Amazon.com’s Unbox service and grab some MacGyver episodes.
Unbox is cool. You can download and play your own little piece of TV and movies. You can even see a preview prior to purchase.
You can keep purchased videos on 2 PCs and 2 portable video players at the same time. Requires Windows XP or Vista.
And, at $1.99 per episode for MacGyver — you can’t go wrong trying it out.

mgroenewald posted this list to the SMS 2003 forums:
Got this from MS - Unsupported changes in SMS

- Changing the site code.
- Changing the site name.
- Changing the computer name of the site server.
- Changing the parent site of a secondary site.

- Promoting a Microsoft Windows® 2000 member server that is an SMS site
server to be a domain controller.
- Renaming the domain where SMS sites are deployed

Yea! Today is the last day of school for our kids. Summer break starts tomorrow, and the kids get out early today.
I look forward to this time of year, probably more than anyone here. Meg sleeps in and I get the kids off to school every morning. Summer break means I don’t have to hassle the kids to get out of bed (and stay out of bed) every morning. It also means I can get straight to work and work uninterrupted — something I haven’t experienced for the last 9 months or so.
Summer break also means more family time and family trips. So, there’s another reason I look forward to it.
Summer break is for Dads, too.

I’m sure that someone, somewhere will benefit from Palm’s latest release, the Foleo, but the build-up was just hype. The blurbs in the news indicated that Palm was releasing something new – “innovative”. What they actually released is a laptop that connects to the PDA/Phone wirelessly and gives you a full keyboard and a 10–inch screen.
You can do this now with software running on your current hardware. What is so innovative about it?
I keep reading and re-reading the articles announcing this technology. I keep looking for something I may have missed. I even watched the demo. Cool music, but still nothing except for the instant-on, instant-off feature.
I wonder which one will run out of battery first, the Foleo or the Smartphone.
Maybe Palm is working to win the “no innovation” award this year.
Of course, anything released today is going to pale in comparison to Microsoft’s Surface technology. I feel sorry for any company that planned a major release for today.

After a week of extensive testing, the CRN Test Center found that users of Windows Vista and Windows XP are equally at risk to viruses and exploits and that overall Vista brings only marginal security advantages over XP.
