Does Microsoft Outlook ever really shut down?
Microsoft Outlook has so many things running off of it — MSN Messenger, RSS feed reader (if you use one for MS Outlook), add-on apps, add-on toolbars, etc., etc.
Outlook is a productivity application, for sure. It’s an application you keep open constantly — and application you rarely close. But, what if you need to close it for some reason? How long does it really take to close with all of these other add-ons running on top of it?
Outlook cannot be closed quickly, and even when shutting down or restarting the computer, I doubt it ever really shuts down on it’s own. If I need to restart Outlook for any reason, and I need to do so quickly, I generally jump into Task Manager, find Outlook.exe in the process list and force it to close. Because if I didn’t — Outlook would still be sitting in the process list for a good 10 minutes or so. And, then, when I do close it manually, every time Outlook starts it tells me that the PST needs to be checked for consistency since it did not close correctly.
MS needs to fix this.
