Joe Law's Holiday treat
Every year for the past few years, Joe Law has sent out a Christmas pun. Here’s this year’s. Enjoy.
===================
The two nations had been fighting for what seemed for centuries, waiting for the prophecy to come true and save them all. The prince of Ryell had secretly been meeting with the love of his life, the princess of Izz. If either of their parents were to find out, well, who knows what could have happened.
The prince’s and princess’s relationship had blossomed over many months now, and, over time, the two eloped and got married. Many months later, the princess had a surprise to tell her prince. She was pregnant! The prophecy was coming a bit closer. The prophecy read that when the two ruling families of Ryell and Izz joined somehow the wars would at last end with the age of a new king…
The time had come for both prince and princess to tell each of their parents of their secret lives of marriage. With a great deal of nervousness each one of the pair approached their mothers first, who received the news with joy. As the princess approached her father though, her state was becoming rather difficult to hide and she feared the worst of reactions.
“Father” she said. “I have some news to tell you.” Just before she could say anything else, the princess fainted. Her father frantically called for the family doctor, who rushed to her side. The princess was brought to her bedroom where the obvious could occur, and her mother had to tell the king of their daughter’s secret marriage to the prince.
The kings called for a meeting to discuss the outrageous behavior of each of their children, grown up as they may have been. The meeting was held at the king of Izz’ palace since the princess was still weakened by her condition. Both kings were oblivious to what was happening in the background.
As it happened, both of the kings were named Noel by coincidence of course! A few minutes into their meeting a midwife burst into the room and, yes, you guessed it. She burst out loud, “Noel, Noel, born is the king of Izz-Ryell”.
Merry Christmas!
Joe
