What not to do on an email discussion list

Published 12 September 06 03:55 PM | rodtrent

There are times when you really should use an alternate email address if you want to be able to participate in an email discussion list.  I posted to a list today, and then received the following return email from another member of the list (the names have been removed to protect the innocent):

======================

Thank you for your message regarding,

"RE: <subject>"

Please note, however, that I "emailaddress@?.com"

have not yet read your message. I am using an email system that only receives messages from senders that are registered with me. To register your email address with me now AND deliver your message, simply FORWARD THIS MESSAGE to me at

"emailaddress@?.com."

Just press the FORWARD button on your email program and put my email address in the TO line. Press send.

This is a one-time response. You will not receive this message again after you have performed the single step above.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding,

----- emailaddress@?.com
