Wiley says it's NOT true...
30 September 05 10:23 AM | rodtrent | with no comments

I posted about this earlier:  http://blogs.msdn.com/michkap/archive/2005/09/30/475578.aspx

After contacting folks at Wiley, they have dismissed this as bunk.

Agreed...pay for news sites have to go
30 September 05 09:31 AM | rodtrent | with no comments
John posted this earlier, and I have to agree.  This is a big chimp category.  You SHOULD NOT have to pay for news sites.  This drives me nuts.  When I click on a link in an email and am dumped to a pay site, I immediately close the browser window.

Going back through the Job posts for the site in the forums and on the web blogs, and doing some research the past couple days, we have a 89% success rate of connecting employees with employers (and vice-versa).  That’s pretty dang good.  Dice and Monster don’t do that well.

Update on myITforum.com
29 September 05 05:04 PM | rodtrent | with no comments
Folks have been asking from many different areas about the next evolution of myITforum.com and I wanted to give everyone an update on where we are in the process.  The process has been slow, but we will soon be hosted on our own server soon at Orcsweb.  Not only that, but our email discussion lists will be migrated over from ListLeague.com, as well.  Things are looking up.  Get ready!

Getting older and feeling it
29 September 05 12:27 PM | rodtrent | 1 comment(s)
I turn 39 this year.  Can you believe that?  I can’t.  I’ve been hanging out with our oldest and his friends for open basketball gym recently, hoping to get in better shape for the coaching position I’m taking on soon.  Wow.  Even though I keep in pretty dang good shape anyway, I still feel the burn and grind after open gym the next day.  When did my bones and muscles start turning so old?

I’ve been testing out the AdSense from Google.  Because I’ve posted a huge number of “blasts” against Cingular in the last few days, the Google ads are now ALL about Cingular!  Please, folks.   Stray away from Cingular.  DO NOT click on the Google ads.  DO NOT choose Cingular as your cellular service!

Why we forget to blog
29 September 05 11:35 AM | rodtrent | with no comments

Sometimes we get busy.  Sometimes we simply forget that a web blog is an extension of our thoughts.  I do this sometimes.  I’ll wake up in the middle of the night and realize I should have blogged about something, but was remiss to do so — simply because I didn’t think about it.  Wouldn’t it be neat if there was an app that could post your thoughts to your blog without you having to type them manually?  Of course, you’d have to turn it off sometimes because I’m sure there are some thoughts that shouldn’t be on the web.  Still…

If this sounds like “way-out” technology, I don’t think it will be too long before it happens.  Those that can will be tied into some sort of mind array to push thoughts and to share knowledge.  RSS is just the beginning.

Don't forget about Netswitcher

Netswitcher still has a lot of features you may need in your organization:

I used to use this at a previous company I worked for to eliminate the pains with switching between the company network and a client network.
