I am going to be ordering a new Laptop for me to use at my new company.

Does anyone have a good suggestion?

I have to order a DELL.

I want a DVD Burner, at least 1 Gig of RAM, and a video card that does not use system memory.

Ron,
I've got an Inspiron 9300 and love it. Although, it may be a little overkill for what you need.

2 GHz P4
1 GB RAM
60 GB HDD (7200)
256 MB Nvidia 6800 Video
17" UXGA Widescreen
DVDR/CDR Combo Drive
Intel 2915 A/G Wireless NIC
Bluetooth
...and a few others.
You should be able to get this somewhere in the neighborhood of $1900-$2000.

I've had several Dell's, and this is by far the sweetest.
Just a thought. Link

It's really to bad they are making you get a Dell :( Someone I work with is getting a Sager after his dell was having major problem, Sager is IMHO the only true desktop replacement! Link

Also, going to check out a TabletPC...

I just ordered a Precision M70 laptop from Dell, a couple other guys have it and have seemed to like it.

2.13 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
100 GB drive
DVD burner
B/G Wireless.

I have a Toshiba Tablet and a Dell D600, if you can get a Tablet! A Tablet with OneNote and InfoPath forms ROCK!

I would reccomend a M20, it has a nice screen, processor and video card. It is not 8lbs. but can still handle normal work tasks. I don't play games so I cannot comment on how well it works for 3D games.

Good Luck!

Tough to recommend w/o know what you'll use it for. Personally, I love my D600. Just rebuilt it and it's screaming again. I use it for development too so, it's not too shabby. Plus the price was right.

If you can wait until April, you could get the D820 which should fly with its dual-core mobile processor.
