WOW…Now this is something I WANT!!

I think these pictures are my favorite that I have seen of the new Camaro.

It looks like there will be a slight delay in the Camaro making it in 2007, because the first official concept will be revealed in January-March 2006 time-frame, so, it might be a 2007 1/2 year release…but either way, they are coming and I can’t wait!

This looks like the Super Sport concept car from the 2004 or 2005 Chicago Auto Show with someone adding some 60's-ish Camaro styling. A little late and, if GM stays true to course, it'll be overpriced. Link

rcrumbaker :

The Camaro has never been over priced...well, the COPO Camaro in 1969, but no other Camaro.

The Camaro has always been the best bang for the buck. Link

rcrumbaker :

The 2007 or 2008 camaro will be the best one yet... even tho i like the 69 camaros the best, the new ones are taking over that old style Link

rcrumbaker :

I agree...I have a 1967 and 1994 right now and have owned other camaros as well.
Link

rcrumbaker :

Ya I like the style of the 69s tho and i dont really liek the 90s style but they still are really good cars and stuff but i have a 69 with a small block chevy 302 and its pushin over 400 horse Link

rcrumbaker :

My 67 is a 406 SBC built...

Should be 475 HP, 500 ft-lbs. according to Desktop Dyno.

My 1994 Z28 is a LT1 that has been tweaked...Not sure how much hp it is putting out.
Link

rcrumbaker :

Ya i have no clue what the exact ft.lbs are of mine and the exact hp cuz i havnt had it on the dyno yet but i know its pushin over 400 but thats all i know Link

rcrumbaker :

No matter what the new Camaro looks like or puts on on the track, theres no way it'll ever replace the old Camaros. Theres nothing like driving a muscle car down the road. Heads turn, fingers point, and you grab everyones attention. If you ask me, the new Camaro is becoming just another California riceburner and I sure as hell dont wanna see any more of those around. Link

rcrumbaker :

Its Not gonna be another rice burner... its not even gonna be close. its another muscle car and its pure american muscle and it has the good looks of the 69 camaro. so there is no way its gonna be a riceburner at all not even close Link

rcrumbaker :

Whats the point in trying to bring the muscle cars back? Bringing them back is harming the true image of the classic muscle. You can't even call the cars brought back muscle cars. True american muscle is strictly american. These days where are all the parts made? Everywhere but the U.S. They may be assembled in the states but are not produced. New cars will never have the true horsepower of the old ones. Link

rcrumbaker :

I completely agree with Back n' 69. That guy knows what hes talking about. Haha...you young fellers don't know what "pure American muscle" is. Now, these rich teen's like you will be riding around in those rice burnin' Camaros and think that they know what it feels like to drive "a muscle car". Bullshit, I can guarantee you, these things won't be close to the originals. Not in power, or style. Ha, wouldnt doubt if the damn things ran on hydrogen fuel cells with these gas prices. I remember when gas was only 25 cents a gallon. Ahh, those were the days. Growing up, me and my friends could all pitch in a buck, spend 5, 6 bucks and fill the tank right full on the Camaro and ride around all night with the foot down. Now adays, can barely make her to town and back without emptying the wallet. I feel sorry for you who won't ever get the chance to grow up in the muscle car era. And now that the new Mustang came out, GTO, soon Challenger and now Camaro..hah...you think you'll have the chance to know power and performance.....you'll never know unless you get a real car. Steel body, big carbs, am/fm radio, extreme power, posi traction, big blocks, no front wheel drive, no abs brakes, no rack and pinion steering, no catalatic converters, no complicated fuel injecters and computers. Just a big block engine, ear-shattering, rumbling exhaust, and uncontrollable power. I say, Good luck to the car companies to even TRY to replicate those cars. Link

rcrumbaker :

You people are idiots. Apart from a few special editions, the current Mustang is far faster than any that came before it. The last few years it was made, the Camaro had the horsepower edge over the lowly pony, and it probably will this time as well. We young folks like things like ABS breaks, decent handling, air bags and other stuff that keeps you alive and on the road. I guess we don't know what its like to own a piece of crap that gets less than 20 miles to the gallon while delivering a 7+ second 0 -60, weighing as much as 10 Rosie O'Donnells strapped together and cornering like a drunken elephant missing a leg. Thank God for modern technology. Those classic muscle cars were great in their day, but, barring major modifications, if you take those heavy, unbalanced dinosaurs to the track, they will be embarrassed by Honda Civics. Oh, I also enjoy having 100,000+ maintenance-free miles. Link

rcrumbaker :

Ya well i dont own a rice burner and i never will, i do own a 69 camaro and i love that car and my everyday truck is just a 95 ford ranger splash that is lowered and all that crap cuz i bought it like that, and im not rich, everyone around this little town aint rich, i got my truck from me totaling out my last car and the camaro i built up from it bein a peice of shit to a showroom shape again and everything is stock in it, no abs, no power steering, no catalillac coverter, stock radio, the only thing i changed on it was that i put fender flairs in the back so i could put on a little wider tires other then that its completly stock so ya i am a teen but that dont mean i like the cars with the fart cans on them and all them rice burners. Im up for the new style cars comin out , they are all comin back and i think its great and im sure alot of people will be loving the new muscle cars Link

rcrumbaker :

First of all the Camaro looks great. Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge still make good looking cars and trucks. They handle the best and have more horsepower then honda, toyota, and nissan. plus Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge, there made in the U.S.A. honda, toyota, and nissan there is made in japan, and china. I went looking around in a toyota store and found a sticker that said 50% made in china I walked right back out those doors that I don't like. If it said 75% made in U.S.A. I just might think on buying one. But I couldn't buy it anyways becasue I have a fifth wheel, four place snowmobile trailer, and a boat. hondas, toyotas, and nissan couldn't pull them. Fords, Chevrolets, and Dodges can pull a hell lot more than them. plus their not rice burners and there made in the U.S.A. that dude (Max) up top was saying something about a honda civic theres not much to them they suck dick. I have a Ford F150 150,000 miles on it and it's still running strong. when you get a honda that says 100,000 maintenance-free miles
that a bunch of shit. lets just put it this way honda toyota and nissan suck monkey balls Link

I'm an old fart but I have had some of the best muscle cars ever made. After I found out that I had cancer I sold everything, My B-5 Blue 1970 Challenger R/T 440 4-speed 4:10 Dana/60, my 70 Dodge SuperBee that was unrestored with only 19,000 miles, this car was one of the top 5 best unrestored Mopars in the U.S. I have also owned a 1970 HEMI Cuda, Plum Crazy Purple, 4-speed, Dana/60. One of my best Chevy's was a 1969 Z/28 Camaro with only 1.500 miles. So I know my muscle cars and I like the newer cars and hope that thay try to do the same thing that made all the older muscle cars so cool, Horse Power over everything else. The one thing they need to do is let me pick every option that is on the car, that is, if I'm trying to build a car that is fast let me drop the air, power windows, radio, heater, and all the power robbing things that will slow the car down. This way the new cars can run in NHRA Stock & Super Stock class just like the old cars. I drove over and looked at the new GTO's, Very nice cars but GM has everything under the sun on every car. I got to chose Auto or 6-speed and the color! We need to go back and take a look at what made the 68 & 69 Road Runner good sellers along with most of the other older muscle cars. Cheep smaller car with a BIG ass moter (such as the 69 440 Dart!) You got to pick everything that you payed for, not someone from Chrysler, Ford or GM!

Sorry it was so long, I had to vent!

LARGE LARRY
So make mine Low Priced & Super Fast! Link

rcrumbaker :

I agree with larry and it is true that if u do take out all the accesaries of the new cars they would be alot better and more original but yet it is the new muscle car of our time and im sure people will have these cars built up like the old days but its just gonna cost a little bit more but there are way more parts out now that u add one thing and it will make the car have that much more power and then it will be that much better. Ya i am only 18 but i do know alot bout the cars and i learned from what my dad all had and thats how i know alot bout the 69s and now i am glad that these new muscle cars are comin out so then it gives us kids somethin to screw round with juss like it did back when the old sytles came out, it kept them busy building the cars up for races and for show and im sure people are going to do the same to the new cars also Link

rcrumbaker :

You guys may be right about the fact that the newfangled 'retro-styled' cars will never replace the classic muscle, but I'd MUCH rather see the new Camaro/Challenger/Mustang, etc. on the road than most of the other crap that American car companies have come up with in the last couple decades. The classic muscle appeal that's being infused into brand new fast cars with great handling is actually rather pleasing. I just wish I could afford an '08 and a '67. I'll stick with my '89 for now... Link

rcrumbaker :

Ok, I dont see your point. You say you'd rather see the new Camaro/Challenger/Mustang etc. on the roads now instead of other crap that American car co.'s have came up with.....Where do you think the new Camaros/Challengers/Mustangs are being made??...same place that have been for the last 30 years. The U.S. of A....... Link

rcrumbaker :

Ford Man, this is a site forum for the new Camaros, not a truck site...

And Max...Honda sucks...the cars have no power...and their trucks design and engine/pulling capacity stats are just embarrasing...sure, they are good on gas. I see your point. But this forum isnt about how to save gas OR drive a slow, shitty looking car. Maybe, you and your honda should go back to japan. Link

rcrumbaker :

I do not own a honda. I own a Chrysler Car and a Chevrolet Truck. My only point is that the people talking about how much faster those old cars are than what we have now simply do not know what they are talking about. A new honda civic SI would eat them for lunch on the track from superior handling alone. If you don't have to slow down as much for a curve, that is a big help. Also, if you look at the numbers. A 1968 Camaro SS, which all will agree is a classic muscle car, would do 0 - 60 in 7.8 seconds. The Civic SI will do it in 6.7 seconds. My only point is that those old cars everyone loves aren't that fast by today's standard. I will agree, those old cars look way cooler and were awesome in their day, but todays cars are just faster. The new mustang, in my estimation one of the few muscle cars left, will hit 60 in 5.2 seconds. That is blistering by anyone's standard, especially when you consider that you can have one for $25K. In performance, safety, and reliability this new pony is simply a superior car. Be proud for America and quit your bitching and calling this and other muscle cars on the horizon rice burners. They are far from it. Link

rcrumbaker :

Hey Max

suck a dick I am tired of bullshit. Half of your stuff doesn't make sense.
you think your so funny with your gay rosie o donnel and elephant jokes, you would fit in well at a gay comedy club.
if you don't own a civic don't talk about them.
Unless you own a Camaro, don't talk shit about them again.

Link

rcrumbaker :

I agree with Ford Man.... Link

rcrumbaker :

Ya No Shit.. You Have To Own A Camaro Pretty Much To Know What It Is Like Link

rcrumbaker :

I'm excited to see the manufacturers taking steps to give the new generation of Americans the ability to buy a performance car that is at least American assembled. Im 27, grew up listening to big block mopars and chevrolets and own a 72 Challenger with a 440. I wouldn't trade my old car for anything, but it's gonna be nice to be able to go buy a new car based on the same principles of performance like the musclecars of old. Link

rcrumbaker :

My dad has a 1970 'Cuda AAR Clone with a 440.
Link

rcrumbaker :

My two cents.

I'd like to add. Who wouldn't like to own a new muscle car and why not? Take a new muscle car that looks almost like the old with newer more up to date everything. I'm talking Engines, Brakes, Tires. If you think that an old american muscle car will be able to compete with todays new and upcoming muscle cars I'm thinking your sadly mistaken. I'm sure back in the 60's and 70's. All you old timers* and old farts* in order to get your boat anchors to run any high performance had to run 104+ octane. Now let me see. Todays fuels of 91+ is more then enough. Hell Most muscle cars only had 300 hp. And then maybe a big block could get about 400hp to them rear wheels. But could you keep that scrap metal to the ground....prolly not. Now how about we take the new cars. Yes they have all the new gadgets, yes they are computer controlled. Do you people not watch speed t.v. Wow, look you can mod the computers in them, and wow, look it doesn't cost very much. Hey, the computer programmers even come with instructions for idiots. Any highschool junky can turn a screwdriver to tune a carb. And hell you don't even need a high school diploma for that. So what the hell are you proud of, to walk around and say hey " i'm a idiot that can pull wrenches and use a screw driver to make my car go faster. Well i'm afraid that todays lifestyle takes more then wrenches and screwdrivers but maybe some knowledge. Lets hope you high horsepowered extremests don't go to dynos to see what horse power your car is pulling, cause remember that is a computer telling you that. But then again what the hell do you know. After all you might have a grade 12 education. You very well might even be a mechanic. But obviously you have a very closed mind about today technology.

I would love to be riding my ass in a new 2008 Camaro. Only cause I know that I can put the power to the ground with my traction control. While your old american heap crap is still spinning out and trying to gain traction. I know that my car is also lighter so that I will be able to get a hole shot much sooner then you. All at the same time I can brake in a much shorter distance. But hey, i'm only 23 years old. I can pull a new computer controlled engine apart and put it back together. Can you? Link

rcrumbaker :

To Ford Man... and the rest of you illiterate morons

I was not talking shit about Camaros or glorifying Civics. I was stating facts in an effort to put things into perspective. If you have a problem with facts go and smoke a dubbie and turn the TV to sponge bob, the home shopping network or some other nonsensical escape from reality. Otherwise, deal with the reality that cars have improved over the last 50 years as a whole. Personally, I think this new Camaro is going to be great, and its performance will no doubt exceed that of previous Camaros, and certainly current Civics. Link

rcrumbaker :

Hey (No) Balls,
My two cents.
You're not going to own the new muscle car because youre 23 years old and youre a poor bastard. You would never have enough money to buy it, unless you were spoiled and your mommy and daddy paid for it...you're a mommy's boy.

yea yea, personally I dont want to put together and take apart a damn computer. Get a life. Ppl that didnt graduate high school prolly know more than you about that stuff. F'er
Link

rcrumbaker :

wow......settle down...... Link

rcrumbaker :

yeah, I just bought one of the 2002 35th anniversary Camaros...really nice car....excited to see the new ones though Link

rcrumbaker :

ya the new camaros will be good i think and the new challenger to will be great Link

rcrumbaker :

yeah. I agree. I cant wait til the Challenger comes out. Did anyone hear when they're expected to come out? Link

rcrumbaker :

the challenger is expected to be the 2008 and 2009 models but they could end up coming out in 2007. they have the options of the 5.7 liter 392hemi or the 6.1 liter hemi so i think it should be a nice car Link

rcrumbaker :

i live in a small country in Europe called denmark, I really like those new American muscle car, but unfortunally will never could afford it here, price example, the new Mustang cost from $ 100.000 and up, amd a gallon of fuel cost around $7-8, so i need to have a Japanese car that drives a bit longer on the mile Link

rcrumbaker :

or a bike ...lol Link

rcrumbaker :

Ford and Dodge did the right thing the challenger and the mustang, a modern image of the greats. Many wont ever have the chance to own a pice of history, but if they can buy new that look and feel just as great, smiles every where. GM.... Is my fav, but they are realy doing something wrong. Simplicity goes a long way, Kris Horton has a great concept of the Camaro. I do like the new Taho, the dash looks more like a car though, not cool. 2005 dash I thik is nicer and hopefully mabey they can make a 70 blazer concept. Four wheel drive fully convertable on the beach of Baja California Priceless. Link

rcrumbaker :

the mustang and the camaro is awsome leave out the dodge Link

rcrumbaker :

man camaro is the best for whoever is hatin i cant wait to trade in my 02 on this new one its gon be bad ass. Link

rcrumbaker :

From thie pictures it looks as if the 2008 camaro will be a hot seller. I believe it will appeal to both the younger and older buyers. It will have enough of todays flash and advanced technology, but yet gives you the feel of the muscles cars of the past, and which in my opinion can never be replaced. I've read a lot of the comments posted on here about newer is better and how the old cars suck and also some believe the new cars suck and the oldies rule. My opinion? They are both great in different ways. I have a daily s-10 ss I drive, my wife a new Impala, we are completely satisfied with both. We love their performance, creature features, and the descent gas mileage. I also have a 66 chevelle ss 396 in the the garage. No, it doesn't stop on a dime, corner like it is on rails, and gets pretty crappy gas mileage. But you know what, I don't care, because thats not why I own it. I own it because when I fire it up and listen to that throaty big block it is as if I just become part of the car. It's just something I have yet to experiance in a new car, not saying it can't happen, but it's just different I beleive in a old car. For the young guys that have never set behind the wheel of one, maybe it won't flip your trigger, but you need to try it once. Plus, with the oldies, you have to use your hands and not your laptops to get them runing better. You know, manual labor? Link

idk if anyone goes on here and reads these posts anymore, but I've been reading that the new Camaro will come as an LS2 or LS6 ...your choice..but the same engine thats currently in the corvette. V-8's ofcourse...21 inch rims in front 22 in the rear. 6 speed MANUAL tranny...also when in hwy driving..or when roaring power isnt needed, half of the cylinders will shut down via signal from computer...so they say it will get possibly 35 mpg hwy...not bad...but when you want the power..its definetly there...400 hp with the LS2..and about 650 hp with the LS6...gonna be an awesome car, cant wait. Link

rcrumbaker :

FordMan your a fucking ignorant idiot. Key word Ignorant. Im only 22 and I bet I am making more money in a year than your ignorant ass. I could go on about how Max is right and I could back up everything thing he said, but it would be no use because you are a fucking ignorant moron. Go back to school and get an education. Link

rcrumbaker :

Hello everyone...had to laugh reading the comments. I agree with the older guys who are loyal to their old cars. Guys, I just think you're cool, okay? Nothing compares to the older muscle cars! I love the older cars and wish I could afford one.I own a 92 Camaro 25th Anniversary Special Edition and I treat it like a baby. My car is not showroom quality, but the thing is, I have a vision for this car and someday...well, you know where I'm coming from. So guys, thanks for standing up for the older cars. That's true America!!! Love it!!! Link

rcrumbaker :

This is a very hot car. I read that the stats are very close to my own 69 camaro ss. How cool would it be to own an original 69 SS AND this retro version?? I also read it will more than likely be released in 2009 or 2010. But an 09 would be great for a 50th anniversary release and come back.

I too have plans for my current baby. And hopefully she will have a stable mate in a couple of years.... Link

rcrumbaker :

Get fuckin' real, man! This car looks like shit from the windsheild back, great on the front, but that ass end is FUGLY!!!!!! It looks like an Alfa Romeo in the rear, but definitely not any form of retro camaro from ANY generation. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the front end completely, but what happened to the rectangular tail light look? Where's the "whale tail" spoiler and the more agressive roof lines? Oh, and that new Camaro concept at the Detroit Auto Show, it looks awful. Come on Chevrolet, don't let us down! Link

rcrumbaker :

The new Camaro will flat SMOKE just about any of the older iron ... c'mon guys, you know it. What showroom Gen 1, 2 or 3 could touch an LS2-equipped car that weighs, what ... 3300/3800 lbs?? The LS6 Camaro will be sick. No 60's or 70's Muscle will be able to catch it. Well, maybe some of the COPO cars, like a ZL1. But those COPO's were all dragsters - no curves allowed! HAHA! See that curve ahead, Dude? Buhbye! I can't wait.

I was gonna sell my old truck so I could get a Gen 3 car and jam in a .030 over 454 I have ... but maybe I'll go for the new Z28/SS.... Link

rcrumbaker :

all i have to say is this car is orgasmic. Link

rcrumbaker :

Next to the 2008 Challenger concept this is the Sh-----stuff. Link

rcrumbaker :

That Challenger is killer. Very nice ... better looking than the green Camaro at the top of this page. However, I thing the Concept Camaro that was unveiled at the Detroit auto show looks better than the Challenger. The Camaro looks(?) lighter - if thats possible. Can't wait for 'em all to hit the street. The next 3-5 years are gonna be good times for car freaks. Link
