Grades for the 070-401 Beta test, Configuring System Center Configuration Manager, are out and it looks like I passed.
W00t!
This test is fairly straightforward if you work with the current product and know what new things Configuration Manager brings into play.
On another note I attended the Chicago Windows Users Group meeting in Downer's Grove last night with a co-worker and had a great time. Chris Urban was live via LiveMeeting starting a series of sessions around Config Manager and it was well received. If you're at all close I suggest you go to the CWUG meetings: they're free, there is food, and it's a great chance to meet your peers in the trenches and do a little (or a lot!) of networking. Plus any chance you get to be in the same room with the guys from Microsoft is generally a good thing.
Anyway, I can now proudly display this cumbersome logo next to me happy MCSE logo.

The folks over at The Blogcast Repository have begun to crank out their Level 5 Guides to System Center products.
If the first guide, an intro to SCCM OSD, is any indication, these are going to be great.
They are not just your standard "Click here, click there, select this, click this, click finish" guides. These are in-depth, technically detailed, with options explained.
So far these are well worth watching AND supporting. If you've never been to the site before at all, there are guides to many products that are well worth your time, but the new Level 5 guides are outstanding.
Recommended.
Delayed even more than I thought, timelines are finally out for Service Manager.
System Center Team Blog Post Here
With beta in late 2008 and projected RTM of 2010, this had better be as fully baked as I hope it will be when it releases. I'm no longer certain we can wait, but hopefully we'll be able to stay in the TAP.
I hope everyone doesn't see this as a complete negative for this product. It should be far better for the wait. The initial effort had plenty of potential, and for them to blow it up and go back to square one was just a staggering commitment. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
At the end of the System Center Service Manager TAP airlift (then called Service Desk), the swag came out in the form of scarves. Scarves? We were all waiting on a cool SCSD polo shirt or something. But a scarf?
There were some leftover at the end of the day, so I grabbed two. Just because. I finally found a use for the second one.
I'm still trying to figure out how Omar got everyone's certificate on the correct chair with no nametags or placemarkers. There's no way I could memorize that many names and faces in that short a span.
