SMS Deployment Engineer - Basically a developer who can script in SMS environment
Complete Description:
A challenging and interesting position is available as a member of the Systems Management Engineering Team. This position is in the packaging and deployment services area of SME and is responsible for creating, testing, and delivering software distributions globally at our client using Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) under the direction of the Deployment Tech Lead.
Responsibilities will include executing the packaging, programming, and deployment standards to both external and internal clients of SME. Providing creative problem solving solutions to a variety of engineering and support teams are essential. This position will assist in maintaining websites, SQL reports and applications for SME and its customers.
This role requires an understanding of infrastructure and extensive experience in working with technical issues and problem solving. We are looking for an individual with strong technical, interpersonal and communication skills who will work well within a team environment.
Education/Experience:
• BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline
• Minimum of 2 years experience working with SMS scripting and Deployments, a plus
• Minimum of 4 years experience working with IT systems and technologies
• Visual Basic, VBScript, Web development, SQL, .NET, C#
• In Depth Knowledge of Windows OS, Server knowledge a Plus
• Strong problem solving skills
• Data Analysis and reporting skills
• Written and Verbal Communication skills
Looking for someone who can do standard MSI (packaging scripts for deployment), but they need to be competent and capable in C#, VBScript, SQL and .NET for scripting purposes. This role will be working in automation scripting to do automation and SMS deployments across the technologies noted. Look for automation scripters, not MSI. MSI and SMS can be taught fairly easily and picked up quickly, the key is looking for developers with automation scripting with the noted technologies. Good development skills will make them successful in this role.
