We are currently in need of a Sr. Consultant-X86 to join our Professional Services team.  Consultants can be based anywhere in the US, near a major airport.

 
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of lead consultants or project managers within an hourly or fixed bid project, assess, architect, design and implement complex system configurations for x86 platforms at a national expert level in customer environments - IBM (system x and BladeCenter), HP (BladeSystem and ISS) and Sun (Sun Fire, Sun Blade, x64) including rack and blade servers.  Assess, architect, design and implement complex system configuration for x86 software at a national expert level in customer environments including VMware, Microsoft, Citrix, enterprise server management. Occasionally acts as a lead consultant on smaller engagements. Works in a quality, professional manner to complete project responsibilities on time and on budget resulting in high customer satisfaction.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Delivery: Using practice templates, scripts and procedures; assess, architect, implement and troubleshoot IT infrastructure system configurations, including hardware and software in customer environments. Occasionally serves in the lead consultant role on a project team to provide guidance to other team members (up to $20K project revenue).

  • CSAT: Consistently achieve high level (4 out of 5) of Customer Satisfaction on consulting engagements by following project manager and technical lead consultant direction

  • Training/Certs: Attend training sessions or shadowing activities, and obtain industry related certifications as determined by the Manager 

  • Pre-sales: Directly interact with clients, account managers and Forsythe architects to identify, develop, qualify, obtain complete information for solutions, and complete proposal/SOW development.       

  • Mentor associate consultants and consultants    


EDUCATION:

  • Required: BA/BS College Degree in engineering, computer science or technology related field; or 6 years equivalent industry experience


EXPERIENCE
    Required: Four years of IT infrastructure technical implementation experience
    Direct system engineering or support experience involving the delivery of hardware, software and services solutions at an enterprise level for two to four product lines in the designated Forsythe practice.
    Direct involvement in working with internal and external teams to consult, implement and troubleshoot configurations - hardware, software and services.
    3 years consulting experience related to x86 technical offerings such as Citrix, Microsoft, VMware, and Linux.
    In depth direct system engineering experience involving hardware, software and services solutions for x86 Solutions at an enterprise level for Sun (Sun Fire, Sun Blade, x64), HP (BladeSystem and ISS), and IBM (System x and BladeCenter) x86 product lines.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Required: Two or more technical certifications in the designated Forsythe practice, or equivalent work experience

  • CCA, CCEA, and MCSE strongly preferred.

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) (VI3 preferred)

  • VMware Architect

  • Citrix System Engineering


SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated ability to assess, architect, implement and troubleshoot IT Infrastructure systems and configurations in the designated practice using procedures, scripts, and templates.

  • Demonstrated consulting expertise (gather requirements, problem solve and recommend) in mid sized and Fortune 1000 customer environments

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high level of Customer Satisfaction on all consulting engagements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to architect, design, implement and troubleshoot complex x86 HW and SW systems and configurations.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint skills

  • Ability to acquire technical skills

  • Ability to investigate problems and utilize problem solving techniques.

  • Ability to work as a team player in a consulting environment.

  • Resourceful working with disparate client and internal departments to deliver meaningful solutions.



  • Must have the ability to travel 60% nationally.
