The Manager, Database Technology is responsible for the planning and management of all technical and operational activities associated with the database administration function. This individual oversees administration of relational database management systems (Oracle 9i Application Server, OCS, Developer Suite, Oracle Report, Oracle Designer and Discoverer) in multiple computing environments (Linux Redhat, Unix/IBM AIX, NT). This position manages a team of DBAs, PL/SQL developers and Reporting Developers responsible for the technical functions associated with creating and maintaining databases: performance and tuning analysis; capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction; store procedure development; systems support; long-term strategic planning; problem resolution tracking; and software upgrades. The position manages all aspects of database development from design through implementation, managing a staff of developers to ensure appropriate procedures and protocol are followed across all database projects.

 

 

EDUCATION / TRAINING: BS in Computer Science or related field

 

5-7 Years Oracle Database Administration and management experience;
Solid supervisory skills;
Solid communication skills (verbal, written,& presentation) and strong interpersonal skills;
Ability to accurately set and adhere to deadlines;
Very high aptitude for learning new things, especially new technology developments;
Ability to prioritize projects and workload;
High level of independent judgment; and strong project management skills.
Must be flexible, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must be well-versed in data warehousing, OLAP technology and tools, and foreign key and primary key constraints with a major RDBMS as well as PL/SQL development. (Oracle 9i Suites, MS SQL Server 2000); significant experience with Oracle database design, development, and tuning and accessing database with third party tools such as Informatica, Actuate, Brio and other applications; significant experience with tools such as Data Warehouse Builder, Oracle Report, Designer, Discoverer, Informatica, DTS, stored procedures, & Unix scripting;
