DUTIES:
The Core Image Services team designs, customizes, distributes, and supports the operating system and enterprise-wide applications for 16,000+ desktops, laptops and tablets at the University of Michigan Health System. Our management infrastructure is based on Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 and Wise Solutions Packaging tools. We are currently seeking an individual to join our SMS Administration / Software Distribution group.
The successful candidate will have a well-rounded computing and networking background with in-depth knowledge and experience supporting and using standard technologies (see skills section). Specific duties include: Provide third-tier support for Windows workstation operating systems. Develop Microsoft Installer-based software packages, and support them throughout the package lifecycle. Participate in daily administration of a multi-site SMS infrastructure. Create standard process, procedure, and quality assurance documentation. Automate administration tasks to improve performance, and service levels. Must be willing to work odd hours on occasion, and participate in an on-call rotation program.
More than three years using Software repackaging tools to create or modify MSI packages, Wise Package Studio preferred. Scripting technology including VB Script, Wise Script and Command Shell are also an important requirement. A thorough understanding of WMI and the Windows registry is highly preferred. More than two years experience using enterprise workstation management software, Microsoft SMS 2003 preferred. Experience using Microsoft MOM 2005 with SMS 2003 is a plus.
DEPARTMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's in computer science or related field and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination. Must have a deep understanding of the Windows XP SP2 operating system, and the Windows Installer Service. More than 3 years experience repackaging applications using Wise Package Studio. Experience with Wise Repository a plus. Scripting technology including VB Script, Windows Shell scripting, and Wise Script are also an important requirement. A thorough understanding of WMI and the Windows registry is required. Experience using enterprise workstation management software desired, Systems Management Server 2003 preferred. Experience creating reports using Crystal Reports desired. Strong analytical stills needed. Customer service skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, also needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
May be filled at the intermediate level with Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
