Duties

This is an SMS Package Scripting position.

The candidate will be responsible for automating installation of various software packages to be distributed via SMS primarily with Wise Package Studio. In addition there will be some SMS client troubleshooting, and limited SMS administration such as creating packages and advertisements, verifying advertisement status and analyzing installation success / troubleshooting installation error messages.

Various ad-hoc scripts may also be written or edited to automate day-to-day system administration tasks

Skills

Candidate must have extensive experience automating software installations using Wise Package Studio, must be very experienced using custom actions, Transforms, patches and merge modules, conflict resolution, group policy, Package status MIFs, package return codes, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 operating systems, extremely familiar with the windows registry, the software distribution aspects of SMS 2003; from creating a package, to distribution points, to verifying and interpreting status messages.

Candidate must be able to write VBScripts or other system administration scripts in other languages as needed, must be able to work independently, and at the same time prioritize responsibilities according to the business requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

Good project management skills are required, and excellent troubleshooting skills are necessary for resolving failed installations, and problematic packages.
