How to design SMS 2003, MOM 2005, and WSUS

IF you had the opportunity to design your ideal environment using SMS 2003, WSUS, SQL 2005 and MOM 2005 what operating system and hardware would you use? 

To add complexity: it is a mix environment with NT4, 2000 Svr or Pro, XP, XP Embedded, 2003 and Linux.  And it has about 5,000 clients in 150 sites across the country.  The environment is expected to double in the next two years.
