Subject: [msmom] RE: install SCOM2007 DB on cluster

Hi Wim,

Dbcreatewizard.exe is indeed the way to go! Dbcreatewizard will not install any binaries or make some registry changes etc.  My recommendation is to always use the dbcreatewizard if no other opsmgr roles are present and you use a dedicated SQL Server.

Good luck!

Alex

Hi,

Did you install the database using the DBCreatewizard.exe tool? This is the recommended way and does not require the running of setup on the second node. If you simply ran setup, I would recommend uninstalling OpsMgr from the node you ran it on. It shouldn’t delete the database, just the binary files which are not needed on a SQL Server.

Subject: [msmom] install SCOM2007 DB on cluster

hello

I am new to SCOM 2007.

I try to install the database on a 2-node cluster.

I found an installation guide on the MS-site, and in the Operational Database installation-chapter, there is a sentence (after that installation on first node was succesfull) that says:

"No Operations Manager 2007 binary files are being installed on the cluster nodes in this Database only installation, so it is necessary to repeat the installation on Node 2"

The installation on the first node was succesful; but now I am not sure whether I need to run the installation process again on the second node, because probably I'd get the same installation procedure where the database would be created, but I guess this is not necessary because the DB was already created at installation on the first node.

can anyone assist me on this one ?

thx !
