Subject: [msmom] RE: Agent question

21023 is requesting config.  If the agent cannot get config – there are several reasons that can cause this.

It’s possible that the management server is rejecting it (this will show up in events on the OpsMgr log on the MS it is trying to connect to)  Resolve by finding out why the MS is rejecting it (disjoint DNS name, agent is seen as a different FQDN or HS ID than what is in the DB)

It’s possible that the agent object is corrupt (follow my instructions below – delete the agent in the console – clear cache – approve pending action)

The above are common when you change domains, DNS config, or rename the server with the agent left installed.

Ok so this server does not show up in the discovered inventory of (windows operating system). So why is this happening to this one server and how can I fix it.  I looked at the event log and didn’t see any discovery errors.

To troubleshoot:

1.       Select your class (Windows Operating System) and look at this class in discovered inventory – does this instance show up?

2.       Look on the agent, and on the agent’s MS event log – are there discovery errors?

3.       Stop the Healthservice on the agent.  Delete the \Health Service State folder.  Delete the agent from “agent managed”.  Start the healthservice on the agent.  Approve the agent as a pending manual install.  Let it re-download MP’s and re-discover.  See if it comes into the fold after 15-20 minutes.

Subject: [msmom] Agent question

Ok I am running SCOM R2 and the other day I had an agent that I needed to be repaired.  I tried a repair but that didn’t work so I removed the agent and reinstalled it.  Ever since I did that the “windows operating system” will not populate as being monitored but all of the other servers are being monitored just fine and the agent shows as healthy.  I don’t even get an open circle, see below……………………….
