You are correct.

If this is a sealed MP – you wont be able to add any responses to that rule – either.

My recommendations would be to disable that rule via override, and then do one of the following:

1.        Create an identical rule in a custom unsealed MP, and add a response that runs a script – that bounces the service or kills the process.

2.       Create a similar event monitor with a short timer reset, in a custom unsealed MP, and add a recovery action script – that bounces the service or kills the process.

Generally, I would opt for number 1 – because I don’t like Event based monitors very much…. Unless you very much want to affect state during this operation.

Hi Kevin,

NetApp Mp is imported to RMS (Third party Mp). And it is created a rule to pick the Critical alerts

This is the screen shot it appear in the SCOM console.

For critical alerts there is a rule to pick the alerts .

This is the only rule for getting the Critical alerts.

As there is no recovery and diagnostics tabs to check .  these are my finding in this.  The way I am thinking is right. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Many thanks,

Narendra.

What steps have you taken to research this so far?

Subject: [msmom] when this alert is raised then I need to restart the service on that particular server automatically through SCOM

Hello,

I am getting one particular alert on the console,  when this alert is raised then I need to restart the service on that particular server automatically through SCOM.

This alert is coming from Netapp.

Example: The host – hostname(xxxxxxx) - being monitored by DataFabric Manager has Critical Event on hostname (yyyyyyyyy)  (DFMSybase Down) - DFMSybase has not been responding since 27 Aug 03:26.  Please restart the process.

Can any body suggest me how to configure..

Best Regards,

Narendra
