When the RMS in a "grey" state - it means there is a problem with the HealthService on the RMS. The best way to find out what the issue is - is to run Health Explorer against the Windows Computer object of the RMS, and the HealthService object of the RMS, and determine what it in an error state.
Next - look at all Warning and Error events in the OpsMgr event log of the RMS, and research these.

I doesn't resolve the problem they go back to the grey state when I restart the health service.

I intermittently have they is issue when the RMS loses its connect to the SQL server holding the Ops DB (like patching reboots). Restarting the health service on the RMS generally fixes it, but quite frustrating when it happens especially since the RMS is where paging notifications originate from.

I have a problem with the RMS Management Server that show the healthy stat in a gray status.
