Subject: Re: [msmom] Ping Status Monitor

I want to be notified when an agent cannot be contacted/pinged. If I use the Health Service Watcher Class and set the severity to warning and critical that should get me what I need.

I won't need to use the ping status after all. However I am curious if this will also work. Any ideas?

This is already performed as part of heartbeat failure coutesy of Health Service Watcher class.

If agent is not heartbeating and server not pingable, you get a WARNING alert indicating computer is not pingable.

If agent is not heartbeating and server is pingable, you get a CRITICAL alert.

Does the default functionality not suffice?

I want to monitor and be notified when a server cannot be pinged. I located the monitor named ping status but it looks like the agent is pinging itself locally on its loopback?

What I want to do is have it ping from the management server to the agent remotely. Is that possible?

Thanks,
