Thanks Kevin,

Got me to the root for the most part at least. When I tried wbemtest
from my machine to the systems that the agents failed due to WMI
connectivity, it connected fine yesterday. I tried those same
connections (\\server\root\cimv2) in wbemtest from my ConfigMgr server,
connections were good also. But when I attempt the same connection from
my OpsMgr management box, I get the access denied to those systems.

So after digging more on the MS box, WMI service was running, WMI
control properties looked fine, opened DCOMcnfg, "Enable Distributed COM
on this computer" was unchecked. So now I need to track down why this
was turned off.

Thanks,
Troy

Can you remotely connect to the machine in question - using WBEMtest -
and run that query?

Generally - if it is a rights issue - we will first throw:

The MOM Server failed to open service control manager on computer
"servername.domain.com". Access is Denied
Operation: Agent Install
Install account: DomainName\User Account
Error Code: 80070005
Error Description: Access is denied

It sounds like you are getting past SCM - and then having trouble with
the WMI query. I'd test outside of SCOM using a remote WBEMtest - and
also try stopping Mcafee on a test box to see if that helps.

Question: Whenever I try to push the OpsMgr SP1 agent to any system
from within the Discovery Wizard, it always fails with access denied.

I've tried using the action account and mine which both have Domain
admin rights. I can connect to the computers with no
problems(UNC/C$/Admin$/WMI/Registry). I leave the default for the
service to run under local system. The results of the attempt that come
up: "The Mom server could not execute WMI Query Select * from
Win32_OperatingSystem on the ." Error - Access is denied

There is no firewalls, does have MacAfee and can remotely install the
SMS client which has lots of requirements itself.

Any ideas?

Troy
