Subject: [msmom] RE: More Exchange SCOM joy... General error during synthetic logon

I am having a similar problem. I have several front end servers that I can’t enable SSL (SSL is off loaded to a network device) I have not found a way around this. We have looked into tearing apart the script and taking out the SSL requirement but it is a complex script and I have not quite got it down yet.

I don’t think you can get this working (easily) without SSL enabled on the virtual directories.

Subject: [msmom] More Exchange SCOM joy... General error during synthetic logon

Hi all,

I'm getting these alerts (and plenty more L) from my Exchange Server 2003 Monitoring MP :-

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outlook Mobile Access logon failure: General error during synthetic Outlook Mobile Access logon

OMA logon verification : Cannot measure OMA availability: the script is not running as LocalSystem

Outlook Web Access logon failure: General error during synthetic Outlook Web Access logon

OWA logon verification : Cannot measure OWA availability: the script is not running as LocalSystem

Exchange ActiveSync logon failure: General Error

EAS logon verification : Cannot measure EAS availability: the script is not running as LocalSystem

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our front end is secured by SSL between our firewall and the world. There is no SSL on the server as it is not deemed necessary locally/politically/it just isn’t like that, so I can’t set SSL to be enabled on these Virtual Directories, as I think is the solution for this.

Unless ticking this SSL box won’t cause any problems, which I imagine it would.

Do I just disable these alerts or can I get it to work some other way? I would like SCOM to tell me if a Virtual Directory stops working, obviously.

Thanks

Neal
