#2 - The Blog
WHAT'S THIS BLOG ABOUT?
This blog is intended to be a place where I give back some of the knowledge some wonderful people have given to me. Topics may include SQL, SMS, SCCM, Windows, scripting (vb, shell, WinBatch, powershell), performance monitoring, or just about anything I've ever learned that I think will be useful to anyone else.
I'm not perfect, I don't know everything, I'm often wrong, I DON'T consider myself a "guru" or a "god" of anything. The more I know about something, the more I realize I don't know about it so I'll TRY to stay humble...and sometimes fail. I've learned a lot over the years, and some of it may actually be out of date or just plain wrong (there are a lot of smart sounding idiots out there and I may have learned from some of them).
I willingly accept correction, improvements and constructive criticizm (if the person issuing the correction isn't being a jerk), so don't be afraid to question any of my posts if you feel something's not right. I'll post the corrections and gladly cite the proper sources.
I'm not trying to compete with anyone for "top poster" awards or "best blog" or trying to get to the top of any ladder so let's not poke at each other like we're in direct competition.
I may take something you've written and try to improve it for my own benefit, and hopefully the benefit of others. Please don't take offense as I don't ever mean to imply I'm smarter than you, or your work is inferior in any way. I only wish to take something which I find useful and perhaps improve on it using my own perspective and skills. I welcome you to do the same (as long as you at least give me the nod for inspiring your cool improvement).
Let's have fun, learn a lot, and help each other out and we'll all be better people for it.
WHAT'S WITH THIS "NUMBER2" BUSINESS?
Actually, where I work, there's like 13 John Nelson's and when I was brought on board, my team (of 7-8 at the time) already had a John, so I became John Number 2, and shortly thereafter, Number2 or #2.
Plus there are so many examples of it just fitting in my life:
It helps me remember that Jesus is #1 and I'm just #2.
Or that there's always someone smarter or better than me.
And of course there's the movie quotes:
"He's my number-two man. His name? Number 2" - Austin Powers.
"Who...does...Number...2...work...for? - Austin Powers 2
It stuck and I kinda like it now, so I'm fine with branding myself Number2.
