Let the hate begin…
I love reading the blogs on Windows Phone 7. Absolutely astounding that it’s a failure before the first device is even sold. Everything from “I can’t believe no copy/paste until 2011” (side note…why did it not matter for SOOO long with the iPhone???) to “battery life will stink because of dancing avatars”. Several are saying they won’t have any developers (clearly from someone who does not understand what MS did with WP7), and attempt to spell out why it will fail.
Why can’t there be more than just Android and iPhone? Does it really matter? Isn’t more choice the better answer for the consumer? There are no fanboys more vocal that the Apple following, and Android vs iPhone has incited many flame wars. Now they are both jumping on the WP7 hate wagon clearly trying to defend why it will fail and theirs is better.
I honestly believe MS strategy is attempting to strike the right balance between what Apple did (using a Zune client/interface and a WP7 phone locked to the app store) with what Android did (using many devices on many carriers). I happen to think it’s a great strategy.
Clearly this is make or break for MS but let’s not sell them short before they’ve even released one device, particularly when you glance down at the phone your carrying now.
