More reasons to not run Vista right now...
I blogged earlier that there is a known issue with HP laptops like mine with built-in SD/SC readers and Windows Vista, particularly when it comes to running wireless aircards which I simply can’t do without right now.
Well, I’ve chosen to dip my hand in to the mobile device development arena, and have begun working with Visual Studio 2005 (with the Vista fix loaded), Device Emulator 2.0, both Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 SDK’s, the .NET Compact Framework and some Palm development tools for the Windows Mobile Treo’s. What I’ve discovered is that it just is not a stable environment right now, and I’m being told that the development tools will probably not be stable on Vista until Orcas. I’ve tried running some basic things, and getting all kinds of errors. I tried the same thing on my Windows XP SP2 machine and it works just fine.
Looks like I have several reasons to stay behind now and keep running Windows XP for now.
