Windows Enterprise Management Division (WEMD) Documentation Survey

The Windows Enterprise Management (WEMD) documentation teams are conducting a survey to evaluate how well our documentation meets your needs, and how we can improve your satisfaction with our content for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), Systems Management Server (SMS), and Data Protection Manager 2006 (DPM). By taking this short survey, you will be helping our writers to provide you with the information that is the most useful to you. Because you are the best judges of documentation quality, Microsoft appreciates your responses to this survey.

There are about 70 questions in this survey. The number of questions and survey completion time will vary depending on your responses to some of the questions.

This survey is running throughout the month of April. If you are attending MMS 2006, you can launch this survey from the Take the WEMD Document Survey link on the Attendee Home Page. However, this survey is open to all our customers. You can take this survey by going to this site: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=314341901680  Many thanks for your feedback and continued support!

SMS 2003 SP2 Documentation Online...finally

Well, better late than never right?! The SMS 2003 SP2 documentation has all finally made it to the web. Some of these documents were my first official projects as a Microsoft technical writer so I'm especially interested in any feedback you may have on them!

I've posted the links to the individual documents here from the SMS 2003 product documentation page: http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/techinfo/productdoc/default.mspx

MMS 2006 Documentation Team birds of a feather (BOF) session
This year the SMS Documentation Team is proposing to present a Birds of a Feather session called "Content Innovations for SMS". At this session Steve Kaczmarek plans to demonstrate the new hot fixing process we developed with the SMS product team for updating the SMS help chm without having to wait for a service pack, demonstrate and solicit feedback about the Help On The Box (HOTB)  and Help On The Web (HOTW) concepts for delivering content, as well as the new TechCenter concept, and solicit feedback about other outstanding questions we have concerning content including content organization, alternate delivery mechanisms (such as hosting the entire content set on an SMS site), and web-based video How To topics. Last year the Birds of a Feather session we hosted helped us to formulate the direction we've taken with the SMS v4 HOTB and HOTW content sets, and this year we'd like to "prove" that idea and make any course corrections we need to make early on in the process. We highly value our customers' input and expect this session to be just as beneficial to us and the product team.   Birds of a Feather sessions are chosen by the "vote" of the attendees. You can select or propose as many sessions as you like, and you are not obligated to attend a session you select. If you or any of your customers are attending MMS this year, I ask if you would please select our session as one of your choices. We'd really like the documentation team to be represented this year, and you can help! Here's what they need to do:
  1. Log in to the conference site.
  2. On the attendee home page, select BOF survey on the left navigation pane
  3. From the drop down selection menu for Commonly Requested Topics, select Discuss innovations in SMS Documentation
I appreciate your consideration, and I look forward to seeing you at the conference this year! Please pass the word along!
