Essentials 2007 SP1 supported Managment Packs follow these guidelines, simplifying IT management:

  • Rules which generate alerts are directly actionable. No alert is generated that is not directly actionable or does not require user attention.
  • Alerts automatically resolve the problem wherever technically possible.  In the event that automatic resolution is not possible, tasks should be provided for assisting in diagnosis.
  • Performance Collection rules are optimized for the IT Generalist and only 1 counter collected in each area of a product. 
  • Performance Thresholds are tuned for small scale IT environments with single server workloads.
  • All rules which generate alerts have a summary and resolution. 
  • Management packs do not require any configuration to get up and working.  If configuration is required, management packs are automatically configured during installation.
