Remote Operations Manager 2007 is a partner solution to provide remote managed services to small and midsize customers. ROM 2007 simplifies the monitoring of distributed systems, enabling IT service providers to respond immediately to issues that affect the organization's IT environment.

Easy-to-follow configuration documentation and support is available from Microsoft.

At the service provider site:

  • Install Remote Operations Manager on central server(s)
  • Install Microsoft System Center Essentials remote console
  • Each customer site requires approval and security configuration for certificate distribution

At the customer site:

  • Install Essentials on central server
  • Establish connection and security information

Maximum number of agents that can be monitored through one management server: 2000

Maximum number of agents that can be monitored through one gateway management server: 530

Maximum number of agents managed by an Essentials server in service provider mode: 530 (30 Windows Servers and 500 Windows clients)
