I just received word from the Product Manager for Essentials 2007, Rene Garcia.  Microsoft System Center Essentials 2007 SP1 has just been announced at Microsoft Convergence in Orlando, Florida.

Several new enhancements have been added to Service Pack – all of them have been requests from users of Essentials.  

·         Support for managing workgroup-joined computers

·         Support for monitoring SNMPv1 network devices

·         Support for using multiple auto-approval rules in update management

·         Support for using a different architecture (x86 or x64) on a remote SQL Server than the Essentials server

·         Adding Windows Server 2008 as a supported platform for the Essentials server, console and agent.

·         Improved backup and disaster recovery guidance

·         Improvements in management pack quality·         Improvements in performance, usability and supportability
