New KB: Discovery and Agent Approval issues with Essentials 2007 in Service Provider Mode
SCENARIO
Run Microsoft System Center Essentials 2007 in Service Provider mode. You may experience the following symptoms related to agent approval:
Symptom 1
After a System Center Essentials 2007 server is configured to Service Provider mode, computers managed by the Operations Manager server must be discovered and then approved in Operations Manager. However, it may take several hours to approve these newly discovered computers.
Symptom 2
An agent is approved by System Center Essentials 2007 for an Operations Manager server. Later, the agent is reinstalled and discovered by another Operations Manager server. System Center Essentials 2007 cannot approve this agent for the second Operations Manager server.
FIX
To resolve this problem, apply the file SCE2007-RTM-KB939606-X86-X64ENU.MSI on each server that hosts a System Center Essentials 2007 Management Server role. After you apply this hotfix, you must restart the OpsMgr Health Service on the server that is running System Center Essentials 2007. It will usually take several minutes to approve agents that Operations Manager discovers through System Center Essentials 2007.
