If you haven't upgraded to the Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates (ITMU) yet, here's something you need to keep in mind.
From KB 924178, the SUIT may incorrrectly detect IE 7 as IE 6, which may cause erroneous security patches to be applicable for those systems. And then of course when you deploy applicable patches, you will probably encounter failures where an IE 6 patch was attempted to be applied on an IE 7 system.
As for the work-around, the best option is to upgrade to the ITMU. If however you can't upgrade to the ITMU, you will have to do some extra heavy-lifting, and exclude IE 7 systems from IE 6 patch deployments.
