Data Access Active Data Object as they pertain to Active Server Pages. ADSI ADSI abstracts the capabilities of directory services from different network providers to present a single set of directory service interfaces for accessing and managing network resources. Administrators and developers can use ADSI services to enumerate and manage resources in a directory service, no matter which network environment contains the resource. This can be an LDAP-based, NDS-based, or NTDS-based directory. WinImage WinImage is a powerful disk utility that enables users to create disk images from removable drive (like USB drive), CD-ROM, floppy disks. It can extract files from image files, create empty image files, write the image files on blank floppy disks, and more! WinImage also supports many different standard and non-standard image formats, including the Microsoft DMF format. ReadFile This small freeware utility allows you to test the speed of memory copy and disk transfer operations under Windows 95 and Windows NT. This is a Win32 console application. C Source included. Extract This tools allow you to extract files from a disk image created using WinImage, FDFormat or compatible tools, running under MS-DOS, Windows 95, Windows 98 or the Windows NT console. Visit the OptimumX siteA few tool highlights (there's a bunch more...). Empty Recycle Bin Allows you to empty the Windows Recycle Bin from the command line. Works on Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98. May work on Windows 95 and NT4 if the Active Desktop is installed (not tested). Exit Windows Allows you to initiate a shutdown, restart or logoff from the command line. Similar to the resource kit utilities, but this one works on both NT and 9x. IE Cache Displays or deletes the Internet Explorer cache (Temporary Internet Files). ini Tool Queries sections and keys from INI formatted files. Message Box Displays a custom message box and returns the user's response (which button was pressed) in the exit code. Modify Profile Loads Registry hives and modifies profiles for users who are not currently logged in. Can also be used to modify new user profiles (Default User). Network Alias Displays, adds or removes NetBIOS names for the Server service. This allows a computer to be accessed using an alias, or a name other than the computer name. The Server service will also announce this alias to the browse list where it will be displayed in apps such as My Network Places and the NET VIEW command. Network Password Age Displays the password age for all accounts in the specified domain, both users and machines. Very useful for cleaning out old, unused accounts from the NT SAM database. Network Server Comment Displays or changes the comment for the Server service, a description of the server which is announced to the browse list and displayed in apps such as Server Manager, Network Neighborhood and the NET VIEW command. Network Speed Calculates the network speed (transfer rate) between two winsock hosts. Network Users Displays a current or historical list of users logged on to a specified Windows NT/2000 system. Network View Displays a list of all machines visible in the specified domain, based on role. Basically a command-line view of Network Neighborhood, similar to 'Net.exe View' but with the ability to filter on certain types of machines (workstations only, servers only, time servers, SQL servers, etc.). Random Number Generator Returns an exit code (Errorlevel) of a pseudo-random number based on lowerbound and upperbound numbers passed as arguments. The number returned is much more random than the %RANDOM% variable. Shell Execute Allows you to launch executables or documents based on their file extension. Similar to the built-in START command, but in addition to normal, minimized and maximized you can also launch apps hidden. Shortcut Allows you to create, modify or query Windows shell links (shortcuts) from the command-line. You can export the properties of an existing shortcut to a text file in .INI format. Windows File Protection Query Allows you to query the list of files protected by Windows. You can export the entire list of protected files, or specify the specific files to query based on patterns/wildcards.
FileFormatter This simple application allows you to perform find replace actions on almost all text files. It also allows you to replace values with TAB, CR, LF, or a CRLF pair. This makes it extremely useful in formatting import files for database applications. NTPower GUI for SysInternals PsShutdown tool. Windows NT/2000/XP Pro Administration application. Enables an administrator to remotely shutdown or restart workstations.

Regmon This monitoring tool lets you see all Registry activity in real-time. It works on all versions of WinNT/2K, Windows 9x/Me and Windows 64-bit. Handle This handy command-line utility will show you what files are open by which processes, and much more. TDImon See TCP and UDP activity in real-time with this advanced network API monitoring tool. Winobj The ultimate Object Manager namespace viewer is here. CacheSet CacheSet is a program that allows you to control the Cache Manager's working set size using functions provided by NT. Use Contig to optimize individual files, or to create new files that are contiguous. PageDefrag Defragment your paging files and Registry hives! Here's a listing of a few free tools from the makers of the popular Hyena product. TScmd A command-line utility to set terminal server user settings. All eighteen (18) terminal server settings can be set. Includes documentation in readme.txt file. Password Age Password Age (formerly "machines"). Displays the age of the password for user and computer accounts. For computer accounts, this information can be used to determine if the computer is no longer being used. For users, it can be used to determine which accounts are not being used or have expired. CopyPwd CopyPwd is a command-line utility that allows copying any number of user or computer account passwords from one computer to another, including domain accounts. CopyPwd can copy the passwords to/from any Windows NT or Windows 2000 computer. Full documentation and source code (under GNU licensing) is included. RenameUser A command-line utility to rename Windows NT user accounts from the command line. Generally, this utility should NOT be used under Windows 2000. LPRman Utility that allows remote creation and management of LPR ports.
