Upgrading Your ConfigMgr 2007 SQL 2005 Database Backend To SQL 2008 Post Configuration

 

Provided here you will find the Post SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 upgrade configuration tasks that need to be completed when performing a ConfigMgr 2007 database backend upgrade when your databases are not showing up in the console or if you are experiencing any ConfigMgr SQL connectivity issues

 

Attaching The Database

 

1. Open the SQL Server Management Studio and Logon to your SQL Server.

2. Right mouse click “Databases” and from the context menu select “Attach”.

3. Select “Add”.

4. From the Locate Database Files dialog box select the database to attach by selecting the Microsoft Database File (Mdf) name such as SMS_XXX.Mdf.

5. Then Click “OK”.

 

Site Maintenance Reset

 

1. From the Configuration Manager 2007 program folder select “ConfigMgr Setup”

2. From the Welcome screen select “Next”

3. From the Available Setup Options task screen select the “Perform site maintenance or reset this site” radial box and select “Next” to continue.

4. From the Site Maintenance task screen select the check box to “Modify SQL Server Configuration” and select “Next”.

5. From the SQL Server Configuration task screen review the information and select “Next” to begin the process.

6. At this point the Setup Action Status Monitoring dialog box will be displayed and after it has completed select “Next” to continue.

7. After the reset has completed it is best to let SQL fester for a while before launching the Console.
