The term “That’s all she wrote” has its origin dating back to WW II when soldiers at war received “Dear John” letters from their significant others where they are writing to end their relationship. When asked what the letter states they would simply reply that their significant other ended the relationship and that’s all she wrote. Today the term is meant to infer that is the end of the story and there is no more to be said.
On that note this will be the last “Origins” post due to a lack of interest as reflected in the page views for the tag. I have enjoyed doing research for the idioms I have posted thus far but as the saying sort of goes that’s all he wrote.
Well, I for one found them amusing and informing. Kinda gave me something to do while drinking my AM coffee.
Thanx Don
I always enjoyed the Origins posts. However I hit them from RSS, so wouldn't show up in the counters.
I also hit them via RSS. I think you should continue.
I have rethought my position and will continue with them. On Monday alone I received 14 emails and two comments to this post about them and with that I cannot argue. Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement!
