When running the SMS Client Health Monitoring Tool you may find that after you select Ping clients you may see the following error message “Ping Test Failed” in the Program Files\Microsoft SMS Client Health\Logs\ChService log file as well as the SMS Client Health Monitoring Tool dialog box:
Sync data from SMS Database Caught exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at chc.chkSyncDB.SyncTable() Unable to sync data from SMS.
Ping Test failed, will try again next schedule.
The error message is generated if the site code in the System_SMS_Instal_ARR table of the SMS SQL database is more than three characters long and as a result the information cannot be truncated to three. The error can also be generated if an SMS GUID is found and is more than 64 characters long in the SMS Database and the information cannot be truncated to sixty four.
