When you install an SMS site the setup application creates an SMS server connection account SMSServer_XXX (Where XXX is your three letter site code) and gives it a randomly created password.
Note: The SMS Server Connection Account is created to facilitate the reading and writing of component data between site servers.
If you have to perform a site reset the reset removes the SMS server connection account and then recreates it using yet another randomly generated password. When this occurs you must synchronize the new account and password from the SMS server that performed the site reset to all the sites under it or your site to site communications may fail.
To make this easier to accomplish you can specify your own account password for the SMS server connection account yourself by either specifying the password from the command line or by adding the password to the SMSAccountSetup.ini file.
By knowing the password the recovery process can be simplified because since you know the account password you can change it on the other sites within your hierarchy.
