Mastering System Center Configuration Manager 2007 book delayed

Rod Trent has a post on his blog about a notice he got from Amazon.com about the book that Chris Urban and I are writing being delayed.

In light of that, I wanted to respond with some sort of explanation to the people that have already pre-ordered the book as to why this has happened.

First of all I want to say to everyone, and I know that Chris feels the same way, that I am totally dedicated to finishing this book.  I started this thing and I am going to finish it, end of story.  The publishers are determined to publish this book and they are behind us 100%. Microsoft wants us to succeed with this book as well, and we have some surprises in store for readers as they have some involvement in it.

Not including some personal and professional issues that have come up in the last part of the year, the biggest problem I have had writing this book is that ConfigMgr has been evolving almost too fast for me to keep up since it came out.

At first all I had to go on was the ConfigMgr online documentation for source material, which was updated after we started the book.  Since then Microsoft has been releasing bits and pieces of great material as well as information I have learned through various sources on MyITforum.com.

To produce a book that has comprehensive coverage of ConfigMgr, this new information just had to be included.  In some cases this meant adding to chapters already done, and in other chapters it meant a complete rewrite.

I am probably being too picky about what I have written so far, but I just feel that I owe it to all the other SMS and ConfigMgr Admins out there to make this book as good as I can make it.  With that in mind, I hope that everyone that is waiting for the book can understand why the book will be delayed.
