Comments from the Zango CTO about the Fortinet advisory on "Secret Crush"

I got this e-mail from Ken Smith, the Zango CTO, concerning the recent news flurry about the "Secret Crush" app on Facebook.  In the interest of equal time for all parties, I have included it here:

For what it's worth, you may want to read my blog posting about the Fortinet advisory:
http://smithkl42.blogspot.com/2008/01/deconstructing-socially-generated.html
It goes into some detail about the great deal of silliness that's been written about this incident.
Suffice to say that Zango had no connection with that widget, other than that we were using the same ad
network to show our ads, that the widget makers used to monetize their widget. I fully agree that the widget,
like many or even most Facebook widgets, was silly and maybe even misleading. Your comments about Facebook
widgets in general, therefore, I fully support. But Zango had nothing to do with this one.
Ken Smith CTO, Zango
