[Intune] Are you using SMS but dreading the upgrade to ConfigMgr or are you looking to move your Systems Management into the Cloud?

First off the upgrade to SMS to ConfigMgr isn't that bad but it does take a fair degree of analysis and planning to understand the existing SMS environment, decide what needs to be migrated and the method for performing the actual upgrade which I appreciate some companies find scary.
I'm also sure there are some SMS users "out there" who are curious over whether Microsoft's new Cloud PC management product (Windows Intune) is sufficient for their needs and could help remove the need for all their on-premise SMS infrastructure.
Well if you fall into either of these camps then Windows Intune could be for you, especially as the Intune Product Group are looking for customers that could potentially move to Intune. If you are interested and want to find out not only more about the future of Intune but whether the Intune PG can help you then check out this blog post from The Windows Intune Team Blog:
At the MVP Summit we were lucky enough to have a demonstration of Intune and personally I was very impressed with what the team have achieved to date and also their future plans they shared with us (which I unfortunately can't share as they're under NDA).   All I'd say is because Intune is a cloud product Microsoft has big plans for it and because it's in the cloud I can see the product going through many iterations/ upgrades over a very short timescale compared to traditional "terra firma" (is that the opposite to Cloud?) software applications such as SMS/ConfigMgr.
Is this the end for SMS/ConfigMgr? No personally I don't think it is. BUT I do see the logic with Intune and where it fits into Microsoft's Systems Management Strategy and I for one will certainly be keeping a keen eye on it going forward and suggest you do the same.
