Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
  • You change the display name of a managed entity by using one of the following methods:
    • In the Operations Manager console, you edit the operational database.
    • You change the discovery property name.
In this scenario, the display name change of the managed entity is not synchronized with the Data Warehouse database. Therefore, you may experience the following issues:
  • The reports show the original display names instead of the current names.
  • The reporting object picker does not show the expected display name.

For example, you create a new group named Group 1 under the Group node in the Authoring view of the Operations Manager console. Then you use the object picker to open a reporter and then click Add Group. At this moment, when you search for Group 1, Group 1 is returned. However, if you rename the group from Group 1 to Group 2 in the Operations Manager console, a search for Group 2 does not return Group 2.
