[Events] MVP Open Day - 30th October, Thank you Microsoft

I just wanted to post a HUGE “thanks” to Microsoft for the MVP Open Day on Friday. It was great to see and meet some many MVPs and see some fantastic Microsoft Technologies (Office 2010 looks cool but that’s about as much as I can say publicly).

We did have a demo of Microsoft Surface which is AWESOME and I SO want to be an MVP in this as well.

The ability to just be able to touch what looks like a big coffee table and interact with it is FANTASTIC and I can see this technology really taking off in the future (although at £8K it’s a bit too expensive for me to justify buying one to evangelise about it but hey Microsoft if you have a spare demo unit it’ll fit in nicely in my living room ;-)

The speed networking session Saturday morning was a real ice breaker and it was good to meet some other MVPs I’d never spoken to before and learn what they are an MVP in (3 minutes wasn’t long enough so I look forward to repeating/ carrying on some of those discussions the next time us MVPs meet up).

I think one of the most fascinating sessions for me was about Social Networking and how the world has moved on from emails, RSS feeds and websites and we’re now in the Facebook, Twitter, phase of technology evolution (admittedly I don’t “get” a lot of this but hey that’s where nieces and nephews come in handy so I feel a few “chats” coming on over the coming days and weeks for Uncle Cliff to “get with it”).

Thanks once again Microsoft for laying this on - I’m sure I speak for the rest of us when I say it was a valuable investment of my time and I got a lot out of it (including an XBOX 360 which I was lucky enough to win ;-)
