Full Title: The shared folders that store packages on branch distribution points may be removed in systems that are running System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
  • You install one or more branch distribution points (BDPs).
  • You use the Share the distribution folder option to create multiple packages that are configured to use a similar custom share path such as "share\package1" and "share\package2."
  • Two or more of these packages are deployed to the same BDP.
  • One of the packages is removed from a BDP after deployment.

In this scenario, the share that contains multiple packages is removed to leave the remaining package data inaccessible to SCCM clients. When another package is added or updated on the same custom share path, the share is recreated to make the packages available to SCCM clients again.
