If you're a UK Car Driver you'll want to read this...

There are only two certainties in life - Death and Taxes.

Well it seems once again that the wonderful Labour Government who are unfortunately in power at the moment what to introduce yet ANOTHER tax and hit the motorist in the pocket.

Their latest brain wave? "Pay as you Go" Road Tax.

Now in theory it sounds fine - rather than pay a fixed amount every 6 months/ year based on the emissions of your car you literally pay so much a mile. So if you drive a lot you pay the most. As with most schemes there will be winners and losers.

BUT what I REALLY object to is:

  1. Every motorist having to pay £200 for a tracking device to be fitted to their car - so I end up paying to help the Government implement this tax.

  2. This Tracking device will allow the operator (whoever that is), to know EXACTLY where my car is at any given time and what speed I am doing. I don't want any third party knowing where I am at any given time as this information in the wrong hands has some serious implications for all of us. Plus if I happen to creep over the speed limit at any given time accidentally I don't want to be hit with a speeding fine generated by automatically by some computer hellbent on simply raising more revenue for the government by persecuting motorists who make a genuine mistake.

This isn't legislation YET and if you disagree with it there is a petition on the 10 Downing Street website you can sign opposing this:
